Be a Pirate Map and Seas

Checked

The in-game map in Be a Pirate shows discovered ports, islands, and your ship marker across open water. Selecting an island lets you click Set Course to point your rudder and sail toward the destination automatically. The ocean is large, and enemy patrols make planning your route essential to avoid sinking with a full cargo hold.

How to use Set Course on the map

Open the map screen to view charted islands, ports, and your ship location. Click any destination, such as Starter Port, Merchant Bay, or Thunderfalls, then select Set Course. Your ship turns toward that point and maintains forward speed on its own.

Automatic travel handles steering, but it will not evade threats. Rogue sloops at level 2, pirate cutters at level 4, and Jungle Raiders at level 6 patrol lanes between ports. Cannons in Be a Pirate are broadside guns mounted on the hull sides, so you cannot shoot forward during automatic travel. Turn your ship sideways and use Q or E to aim guns when hostiles engage. In open water, sharks attack swimming players directly if you fall overboard. Wild dolphins swim alongside hulls in calm waters purely for atmosphere.

Schematic of the Be a Pirate seas and the islands named in footage

Confirmed seas and known border gates

Sea What is known Gate
Calm Sea Reported starting sea. Three quest message bottles spawn near its islands. None recorded
Frozen Sea Sinking ice raider ships here drops rare treasure maps. Not confirmed
Abyssal Sea Precedes Ironbound Sea; the most common navigation bottleneck in player reports. Black tide pushes ships back until a specific ship item is equipped
Celestial Sea Contains Skyhold Gardens and Aurora Rift; reported as an outer boundary where passage ends. Not confirmed
Dead Man's Sea Reported spawn location for Poseidon. Not confirmed; Poseidon is the reported obstacle
Ironbound Sea The only sea named in developer store text. War Sigils sell as materials for hulls built here. Entry condition unconfirmed; hulls built here require War Sigils, Imperial Iron, gold, and a route quest

Players describe sea progression as a sequence where each zone demands higher combat strength. Recorded evidence verifies two direct relationships: Ironbound comes after Abyssal, and Celestial sits at the far edge behind Skyhold Gardens. Developer material does not publish an official sequence across all eleven seas.

Eleven seas on the store page, six names in footage

The Roblox game description says "Set sail across 11 seas", yet developer gamepasses include "Pirate Pass: Season 2 The Eight Seas", and early video guides instruct players to sail eight seas. This difference points to post-launch additions or a seasonal naming theme.

Only six seas have verifiable names in footage and official store listings. Ironbound Sea is the sole sea named in official store text, where War Sigils are sold for captains who can already enter. The other five seas have no confirmed names, coordinates, or navigation gates in available recordings. Unofficial wikis that publish full eleven-stage routes rely on unverified community theories.

The Sea Chart, read from a recorded session

A recorded Cathedral Mission run opens the in-game map, called the Sea Chart. It is a pannable chart with a legend, a zoom control and named pins, and the two sea names at the top carry a completion percentage.

The Be a Pirate Sea Chart as it appears in a recorded session

Reading that frame gives the place names the chart actually prints, which is the closest thing this game has to an official map list:

Named place What the frame shows
The Brazen Armada Fleet marker on the chart
Drowned Cathedral Mission target, with its own Cathedral Mission
Blackwake Harbor Port marker, also visible as a HUD pin
Iron Dreadnought Island Island marker
Temple of the Nine Stars Island marker
Mourngulf Atoll Atoll marker
Midnight Reef Reef marker
Treasure Island Marked in capitals on the chart
Thorngate Passage Passage marker
Frostbite Isle Northern island marker
Abyssal Throne Late marker on the chart
Steamwall Chart label near the eastern edge
Black Rock Port Port marker
Rust Docks Docks marker
Blackchurch Graveyard Graveyard marker

The same frame shows how travel and events read: a SIEGE countdown, a GOLDEN HOUR timer, and objective lines such as "Sink 10 Ironbound Frigates 1/10" and "Complete 25 treasure maps 12/25". Those are the game telling you where the content is, which is why the chart is worth opening before you pick a heading.

Islands named in footage

Earlier footage named a smaller set of places before the chart was readable. Both lists are real; the chart is simply more complete.

Island or port What is there
Starter Port Spawn harbour with the Treasure Broker, the shipwright, crew recruitment and the Hall of Legends statue
Merchant Bay Second port with the same layout; fish sell here too
Coral Island Tutorial dig site just behind Starter Port, low-level crabs and chests on the sand
Crab Island Crab-themed island with a dense spread of chests
Thunderfalls Reachable by Set Course, with jungle raiders ashore and sharks in the water
Palm Bay Quest target, named on the objective line when you are told to discover it
Fang Island Late area; one recorded player turned around instead of landing
Black Water Island Named in a quest step rather than shown on a map screen
Skyhold Gardens Celestial Sea landmark, with the Aurora Rift behind it
Aurora Rift Where players report the Celestial Serpent fight and the compass lead
Drown Cathedral Has its own Cathedral Mission

Find your next step

What you are seeing What it means Do this
You cannot find an island the quest named The pin exists, you just have not opened the map Open the map, pick the pin, Set Course
You reach a sea boundary and get shoved back A gate, not a bug Check the gate column above; at Abyssal it is the black tide
You cross, then lose the ship behind the gate The hull, not the map Repair before crossing and read the boss page for that sea
You want a sea we have no name for Five seas exist without a name in anything we could read Treat any list that names them as unverified until it shows a source
You just started Every sea after Calm assumes a hull you do not have Run the beginner guide first

Where to go next

If you are still in starter waters sailing a basic raft, follow the beginner guide to hire crew, run early dig routes on Coral Island, and buy a sturdier hull before attempting open-water voyages.

If your ship already crosses sea boundaries, review the boss guide for spawn timers, broadside combat tactics, and the five percent damage threshold needed to claim loot from server encounters.
