How to Level Up Fast in Be a Pirate

Checked

XP follows the gold loop: opening chests pays the most, sinking ships and finishing quests add chunks, and even sailing slowly ticks the bar. Recorded sessions went from level 3 to level 8 inside ten minutes without grinding.

Where the experience actually comes from

Anything that moves your gold bar moves your level bar. Handing a chest to the Treasure Broker is the biggest single XP hit in the early game, so a chest run does two jobs at once. Sinking an enemy ship pays a smaller chunk plus bounty, and quest steps pay on completion.

On a fresh account the tutorial chain gives the best XP per minute in the early game, because every step pays. Dig the first chest on the island behind Starter Port, hand it to the broker, buy the Sloop at roughly $2,500, then take the Quartermaster's task. Level 4 usually lands in that sequence before you make a single deliberate grinding decision.

Action Recorded XP behaviour Cost to you
Opening a chest at the Treasure Broker Largest single gain in early footage The sail out and back
Sinking an enemy ship Chunk per kill, plus bounty Repairs, plank use, risk of losing cargo
Turning in a quest step Pays on completion Waiting for the next step to unlock
Drifting or sailing with no target Small tick, read as nine points once Nothing but time

Where experience comes from in Be a Pirate

Ten minutes from level 3 to level 8

One recorded run hit level 3, then 4, then 7, then 8 inside about ten minutes of ordinary play. Nothing there looked like grinding: the player dug chests, killed what got in the way, took the quests that appeared and sold everything at the broker. Later in the same footage the counter reached 9 and then 12, again without a dedicated farming loop.

The pace comes from stacking sources: a chest run pays chest XP plus whatever you sank plus the quest step it finished. Players who park at one island and re-dig the same patch feed one source, and the bar crawls.

Death is the main brake: it costs the cargo in the hold, so a fight you cannot win takes a run with it. Enemy ships carry their own levels too (a rogue sloop at 2, a pirate cutter at 4, a Jungle Raider at 6), and a level gap makes the fight harder than the XP is worth.

Three routes to faster levels, each with a cost:

Goal Move Cost
Level a new account quickly Tutorial chain, then chest runs that close a quest step Broker trips and the sail back to port
Levels with less risk Chests and quest steps, walking away from fights above your level A slower bar and no bounty from kills
Combat XP on purpose Sink ships at or below your level Planks for repairs, and the hold if you lose

What a level gives you

The level-up prompt tells you directly: after hitting four, the recorded line said the player now had more power. Enemy ships carry visible levels, so the number on your character does real work in combat.

The per-level stat table is not in the footage; nobody has read out how much hull, damage or speed a level adds. Treat "more power" as confirmed and any exact multiplier as unconfirmed.

Level is not the ticket into the next sea. The Abyssal Sea pushes ships back with black tide until a ship add-on is fitted, and the hulls past it want War Sigils and Imperial Iron. Both live on the seas and their gates page with the rest of the gate conditions; a level number does not open water.

Is 2x Experience at R$249 worth it

The pass reads: earn double experience from every action and level up twice as fast, covering chests, kills, quests and drift ticks. It is permanent, and a gift version at the same price hands it to someone in your server.

Who it suits:

  • You play a few sessions a week and want the levels to land in half the wall-clock time.
  • The bar no longer moves visibly per chest and the run is starting to feel like a chore.

Who should skip it:

  • You are in your first hour. Footage shows 3 to 8 in ten minutes with no pass, so it saves minutes, not days.
  • You would rather spend it on something that changes a run, like extra cargo. The list sits on the game pass prices.
  • You are levelling for a sea gate. Doubling XP will not clear black tide or a War Sigil requirement.

If you are unsure, time one session and compare the level at the start with the level at the end; two levels or more means the pass is buying speed you already have.

The level cap is unconfirmed

No video shows a maximum level. The highest number in the collected material is 64, from a comment saying the writer was level 64, so the cap is at least 64. Whether it stops there, at 100, or keeps climbing is unconfirmed, and the game page publishes no number.

Any guide quoting an exact cap quotes something the recordings do not show. If levels keep paying power with no ceiling, 2x Experience keeps its value, which argues for buying it late.

Two free XP sources sit on your account already: the Daily Rewards panel and the free Pirate Pass track pay for logging in and playing, and the Quartermaster's daily task paid 400 coins in one recorded run. That gold feeds the loop that pays XP. For the money side, read how gold is actually earned.
