What the four slots actually count
The starter raft shows four cargo slots. Load a chest and the counter moves to one out of four; load three and it reads three out of four; the fourth chest makes it four out of four. A chest in your hands is not on that counter, and the number does not move until you set the chest down on the deck.
Read the counter while you walk up the ramp with a chest: at three out of four you have room for the box in your arms, and at four out of four the hold is done.
Walking a chest back to the boat
- Dig until the chest is out of the sand, then pick it up. Your character lifts it onto the shoulder.
- Watch your speed. The game applies an 18% movement speed penalty for as long as you are carrying the chest, and it stays on until the chest leaves your hands.
- Take the shortest line to the boat. A longer beach walk with the penalty costs more time than the dig did.
- Load the chest. The penalty drops the moment it is in the hold, and the counter goes up by one.
Trip count is what changes over time, and load capacity is a hull stat rather than a backpack stat: the Ironclad panel reads 170. You can compare hulls on the ship ladder.

What happens when you keep pushing
Flood warning: with the counter at four out of four, dropping another chest into the hold makes the hull take on water. The raft goes down, and the cargo it was carrying goes into the sea with it.

| Situation | What happens | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Four out of four, one chest still on the beach | Loading it floods the hull | Sail home with the hold you have |
| Four out of four, you want that last chest | Holding it on deck keeps the boat afloat, but the 18% slowdown stays on | Carry it to port and unload there |
| The chest will not lift off the sand | Another crew already claimed it | Dig somewhere else |
Recovery starts with an empty hold at the respawn point and the same beach work again. The loaded chests do not come back. On the next run, load three and leave the fourth slot open while you are walking with a chest, so the boat has somewhere to put down what you are carrying.
Dying is the other way to lose a hold. One recorded death at sea cost the player $89 of cargo, below the cheapest recorded chest payout.
The trick players use with a full hold
One recorded session shows a workaround. With the counter at four out of four, the player kept the chest in their hands and stood on the deck instead of loading it. The boat stayed afloat and kept moving, and the chest rode along in their arms.
Two things about that clip stay open: the recording does not show whether the chest survives incoming fire or a server rejoin, and it does not lift the 18% penalty, so the trip is slower. Use it to move one extra box to port and unload it there, and keep the hold itself inside the counter.
Beaches another crew owns limit this trick, since claimed chests stay put.
The passes that change how much you can move
| Pass | Price | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Strong Back | R$149 | Carry one more chest at a time, on your back |
| Titan Back | R$249 | Carry one more chest at a time; stacks with Strong Back up to 3 |
| Big Cargo Hold | R$299 | Adds 50% cargo space on every ship you own |
| Sell Anywhere | R$199 | Sell the whole hold from anywhere on the ocean |
The two back passes raise how much you can carry in your arms. That is a different number from the hold on the ship, and the counter does not change when you own one. Big Cargo Hold changes the ship: 50% more space on every hull you own, counted from whatever that hull already holds.
Which purchase earns its place
Sell Anywhere changes where a run ends. If you fill the hold with a walk and a sail still ahead of you, selling on the spot ends the trip there and keeps the cargo out of the water.
Big Cargo Hold pays off in proportion to how much the hull already carries. Fifty percent of the raft's four slots is two extra chests; the same fifty percent on a hull that carries far more is a much longer run. Check what the next hull holds on the ship ladder before buying it for the raft.
The back passes are for a specific habit: walking a beach twice instead of once because the second chest will not fit. If you have not been doing that, they will not change your session.
Gold per run depends on how many chests you bring back, what each one sells for, and how long the sail took, and the recorded payouts for single chests are on how gold is actually earned. Prices and descriptions for every pass are on the game pass prices.
